Doctor Who: Albert Finney joins cast

Simon Brew

Another name joins the roster for the 2009 Doctor Who specials. And this one's a bit special...

Published on Sep 21, 2008

The casting news and speculation for the forthcoming selection of Doctor Who specials continues, with the latest titbit being the adding of the great Albert Finney to the cast. The last time we saw Albert Finney, he was pissing Jason Bourne off something rotten in The Bourne Ultimatum. This time? It seems that Finney has been lined up to play Winston Churchill in one of the four episodes to be broadcast of Doctor Who in 2009.

According to reports in Doctor Who Magazine, another big name actor has also joined the cast for 2009, but right now, there’s no news on who it will be. Likewise, Finney’s involvement hasn’t yet been officially confirmed, but we suspect that’s just a matter of time…

UPDATE:  We omitted to include the source of this story when first posted, and shame on us for not doing so. The story was first broken by the excellent Blogtor Who website, and you can find it here.
