Doctor Who: Paul McGann is back!
Simon Brew
Is the eighth Doctor returning to the Tardis? Possibly not, but he is down to appear in the show, it seems...
Published on Sep 11, 2008
After a fairly quiet few weeks in Doctor Who-land, the past few days has seen a bit of an avalanche of titbits, as presumably work intensifies ahead of the four special episodes being broadcast in 2009.
The latest revelation is that erstwhile Doctor Paul McGann, who made one solitary on-screen appearance at the controls of the Tardis in the 1996 US TV movie, has been added to the cast list for 2009. McGann, a frequent contributor to Doctor Who audio adventures, is believed to start filming for his thus-far-unknown role in October/November. Will he be playing the eighth Doctor? Unlikely, but we wouldn’t rule anything out. After all, nobody dies or disappears in modern day Doctor Who!
We also understand that Brian Blessed may be making an appearance, but again, this is far from being confirmed. However, as the filming schedule approaches, expect an assortment of casting confirmations in the weeks ahead..
