Joe Johnston directing Captain America

Jurassic Park III director and SFX wizard to bring the super-soldier to life in 2011…

Published on Nov 10, 2008

EW reports that Joe Johnston, whose Wolf Man is due for release next April, has been signed to direct the Captain America movie. Johnston previously directed The Rocketeer, Jurassic Park III and Jumanji, having come from an esteemed background in visual effects at Industrial Light And Magic.

Captain America first sprang to life fighting the Nazis in 1941, when fine arts student Steve Rogers left his bohemian ways behind to take part in the government experiment Operation: Rebirth, where a super-serum enhanced his physical abilities, turning him into a major weapon against the axis powers.

The super-soldier's first big-screen adventure is set for release on May 6, 2011, though the role has yet to be cast.

Another one of those 'will it wont it' moments...of all the superhero stories C.A is one of depth and i personally don't think it will need a bucket load of cgi. The story should't need tweakin and location work will be very easy...it could be so good. Captain America has his whole persona and character built on his layers of personal trials, that is where the film should put its focus and not just on 'super soldier' beat down fest (but i agree too that he is an action hero). So, Joe, do your homework, read, read and read again. Don't ruin this for us! Ta.
