Doctor Who: Planet Of The Dead aliens announced

The new alien race featuring in the first Doctor Who special of 2008 have been revealed, according to the Mirror.

Planet Of The Dead will see The Doctor come up against the Tritovore - a race of halfman, half-fly creatures. In last month's Doctor Who Magazine showrunner Russell T Davies revealed their name "starts with a T". An unnamed set source claims these monsters will become as iconic as the Daleks and Cybermen saying, "They are disgusting and will last long in the memory."

Currently undergoing rewrites due to a damaged bus, the special sees ex-Eastender Michelle Ryan team up with the Time Lord playing Lady Christina de Souza. It is due for broadcast in "spring" and is written by Russell T Davies and Gareth Roberts.
