With Prometheus sequel Alien: Covenant set to start filming shortly, The Wrap reports a surprise casting choice as Danny McBride — best known for his comedy roles, particularly in Eastbound & Down — is in talks for one of the male leads in the movie.
The exact role is unclear, but McBride is already said to be in early discussions for the movie with director Ridley Scott. He’s expected to sign up shortly.
Noomi Rapace won’t be reprising her role from Prometheus, although Michael Fassbender is set to return. Katherine Waterston has already signed to play the lead female role.
Scott plans to make it the first of three more movies in the series, before the storyline catches up to 1979’s Alien.
Alien: Covenant is currently scheduled for release in October 2017.
