Lily Allen "eyes" Doctor Who Role

I have my eye on that project... it would look far better if they had someone like me!

The Fear takes a hold on Doctor Who fans as Lily Allen announces she's a fan and wants to star alongside Matt Smith in the TARDIS.

Lily Allen is putting herself forward as the companion in Series 5 of Doctor Who, reports New magazine

On sharing the TARDIS with Matt Smith (The Eleventh Doctor), the popstar said: “Oh yeah, I have my eye on that project. I’m a massive fan of Doctor Who, and me and Matt are in the same age bracket, so it would look far better if they had someone like me!”

Commenting on her 'style', Allen reckoned she has the "edge" and added,  “It needs that, don’t you think?” The singer is no stranger to the world of television, hosting her own BBC Three 'entertainment' show, Lily Allen and Friends in 2008.

So far no announcement has been regarding Matt Smith's traveling companion for 2010 though Hannah Murray (Skins), Cloudia Swann (Demons) and Amara Karan (The Darjeeling Limited) have been cited in the press as possibles.

We said the same about Billie Piper, AND WE WERE RIGHT. They need to look at getting a decent actress and/or actor, the series can handle having more than one companion at a time, and the Doctor doesn't need any more characters that spark a 'love interest'....

Of course ten seconds on Google would have brought up her packed Tour Schedule for the year revealing this for the non-story it it.

What a negative report! I personally like Lily Allen - she's smart and interviews well. Comes across as quite a 'nice' person too. And weren't we all extremely wary of Billie Piper taking on the role four years ago?
