Link Tank: The Collin Farrell Penguin Spinoff Series Officially Green Lit at HBO Max
The Penguin is getting a spinoff, DC moved around all their release dates, LEGO is making a Peach's Castle, and more in Link Tank!
Take it easy, sweetheart! The Collin Farrell-led Penguin show and spinoff of The Batman is finally a go at HBO Max.
“It seems as if The Batman director Matt Reeves and company can’t get enough of Colin Farrell’s hot (yeah, I said it) Penguin, and we’re now getting our very own series on the owner of the Iceberg Lounge.”
Despite coming off a smash-hit TV series in Peacemaker and one of their most successful films in years with The Batman, DC can’t stay on the good side of luck too long with a massive shuffling of all their release dates.
“Last year Disney took the plunge and made some big changes to its upcoming movie schedule, pushing back many Marvel movies and Indiana Jones 5 by months to offset the delays faced during the Covid pandemic. Now it looks like Warner Bros. is doing something similar with its 2022/2023 slate after announcing a huge reshuffle that sees Shazam: Fury of the Gods being pulled forward, while all other movies drop back in scheduling starting with the Dwayne Johnson movie Black Adam.”
In honor of Mario day (Mar 10, get it?), LEGO unveiled a new wave of Mario sets, including the first-ever Princess Peach figure along with her fancy castle.
“Following the accidental early announcement of 71408 Princess Peach’s Castle yesterday, six more upcoming Super Mario sets have been unveiled today! These will be released on the 1st of August.”
After nearly the entire run of The Book of Boba Fett took place on Tatooine, the upcoming Obi-Wan Kenobi series returns there immediately, but it looks like this time our main character is leaving the planet.
“Now that The Book of Boba Fett/The Mandalorian season 2.5 is behind us, it’s time to look to the future—specifically, Obi-Wan Kenobi, thanks to this very first teaser trailer for the Disney+ show. The Star Wars TV series will not only star Ewan McGregor in the title role, but it will also see the Jedi knight come up against his old apprentice, Dark Lord of the Sith: Darth Vader. And yes, he will be played by a returning Hayden Christensen.”
Pete Davidson is getting his own TV series being described as his version of Curb Your Enthusiasm.
“Fresh off appearing in multiple music videos (in absentia) created by noted musician/rampaging weirdo Kanye West, Pete Davidson has now lined up his next project: Bupkis, a new TV series starring Davidson, and produced alongside his long-time Saturday Night Live employer Lorne Michaels.”
How good is the Valve Steam Deck, really? Let’s examine the quality of the miniature gaming device.
“I was, I am happy to admit, a Steam Deck skeptic. Valve’s history with hardware does feel an awful lot like Captain Ahab’s history with Moby Dick. While all have their passionate defenders, the Steam Controller, Vive VR, and Steam Link can reasonably be chalked up as something short of colossal success. And here they are again, trying to push a new hardware niche, but this time clearly far too ambitious: getting a PC into something only slightly larger than a Switch.”
