True Blood season 2. Unseen Fringe. Being Human finale. The Comic Strip Presents. This Is Jinsy. Plus lots and lots of films...
Published on Feb 25, 2010
There are a few things to signpost on this week's telly horizons so, if you'll indulge us, we'll break them into categories in order to map them out a bit better.
On the sci-fi, fantasy and supernatural fronts, the second season of vampire drama True Blood starts tonight, Friday February 26th on FX at 10:00pm. Things kick off - violently - from the offset of Nothing But The Blood, so join Sookie and Co early or risk being the water cooler wallflower.
No sooner do we welcome a new fanged bunch then we have to say farewell to another bitey group as the Being Human finale airs on Sunday 28th February at 9:00pm on BBC3. Mitchell's gone very dark indeed this past week. Is there enough compassion left to help wolfish George and ghostly Annie avoid fates unfit for inhumans? Let's hope he remembers who saved his vampy ass last series, right?
On Tuesday 2nd March at 10:00pm an unaired episode from Fringe's first season, aptly entitled Unearthed, will be broadcast on Sky1 before the second season resumes on Wednesday 10th March. Unless you're aware of the out-of-order sequencing with this ep, you might be mightily confused, as a previously dead character makes a one-off reappearance here by other than ghostly means.
Fans of comedy and heavy metal might want a ticket to The Comic Strip Presents... on Saturday 27th February at 11:15pm. Bad News Tour is a mock-rockumentary that beat Spinal Tap to the stage (uh, screen, really) in 1983 and returns for a repeat engagement this week on Gold, starring lead man Vim Fuego (Adrian Edmondson), bassist Colin Grigson (Rik Mayall), guitarist Den Dennis (Nigel Planer) and drummer Spider Webb (Peter Richardson).
If you prefer your funny prescription with more BS (bizarre/surreal) injected, a la a Boosh, Python, Psychoville blendy-thingie, This Is Jinsy might be your medicine. If you're curious, or like curious things, BBC3 is the place to be on Monday 1st March at 9:30pm.
Now, on to the films showing through the weekend and a bit beyond. As always, if we missed anything interesting, have a shout in the comments, with our thanks.
Please also note: the ordinal numbers for dates will help you scan through this simple list with your browser's search function. Enter '20th' in your browser's Find box or window to highlight and/or tab through all movies shown on Saturday. Enjoy!
