Robin Hood: Danny Huston is King Richard
Simon Brew
Russell Crowe will be bowing before Danny Huston's King Richard in Ridley Scott's Robin Hood update...
Published on Jul 13, 2009
The last time King Richard turned up in a Robin Hood movie that we can remember, it was Sean Connery at the end of Robin Hood: Prince Of Thieves. That, though, was a very fleeting cameo. For Ridley Scott's currently in production retelling of the Robin Hood story, that's due out in cinemas next year, it's Danny Huston who's just got the job.
Appreciating that not all casting notices are posted when they actually happen, it's still always a bit bemusing when news of a new face being added to a cast arrives with production surely nearing its end. Yet that aside, Huston will be Richard the Lionheart, in a film that already stars Russell Crowe in the title role, along with Vanessa Redgrave, Cate Blanchett and William Hurt.
We last saw Huston in X-Men Origins: Wolverine. And you'll be able to see him in Robin Hood from May 14th next year.
