Star Wars TV Series Disney+ Streaming Guide

Thanks to Disney+, the Star Wars TV streaming universe is about to become a lot bigger.

Though Disney CEO Bob Iger has stated that the Star Wars movie franchise will “go into a hiatus for a few years” following the release of The Rise of Skywalker, that doesn’t mean that fans will be deprived of new stories in the galaxy far, far away. With Disney+, Lucasfilm will continue to expand the franchise with new TV series like The Mandalorian, and many more new projects in the works.

However, Disney+ will house more than just new Star Wars TV content. Several old fan favorite series set in the galaxy far, far away will be available to stream at launch, leaving fans with hours and hours of stories at their disposal. Star Wars: The Mandalorian Trailer Breakdown and Analysis

The Mandalorian

From bankable Disney director Jon Favreau (Iron Man, The Lion King), The Mandalorian is the first live-action Star Wars TV series. Produced, written, and directed by Favreau, The Mandalorian centers on the titular gunslinging bounty hunter as he navigates the outer reaches of the galaxy after the fall of the Empire, but before the rise of the First Order.

The cast features Pedro Pascal (Game of Thrones), Carl Weathers (Predator), and famous actor, writer, and filmmaker Werner Herzog, while directors Taika Waititi (Thor: Ragnarok) and Dave Filoni (Star Wars Rebels) will get the chance to put their stamp on the new series alongside Favreau. The Mandalorian is currently streaming its first season.

Star Wars: Obi-Wan Kenobi Facts

Untitled Obi-Wan Kenobi Series

The best part of the prequels is undeniably Ewan McGregor’s turn as Obi-Wan Kenobi. That’s why we couldn’t be more excited when we learned that Disney+ is developing a series set after Revenge of the Sith with McGregor set to return as the exiled Jedi.

Deborah Chow, who directed three episodes of the upcoming Disney+ series The Mandalorian, will sit in the director’s chair, with the series being written by Hossein Amini (The Alienist).

Star Wars: Cassian Andor Series News

Untitled Cassian Andor Series

Our time with Diego Luna’s Cassian Andor in Rogue One was cruelly short, but an upcoming Disney+ series will give us more of the fan-favorite Rebel spy. Set to go into production next year in London, the new series will follow Cassian during the early days of the Rebellion and before the events of Rogue One (since, you know, he blew up in that movie).

A showrunner has yet to be announced, but Tony Gilroy, who wrote the screenplay for Rogue One and reportedly took over some of the directing duties, is returning to pen the pilot. You can also count on Alan Tudyk reprising his role as the laconic droid K-2SO.

Star Wars: The Clone Wars

Star Wars: The Clone Wars

Created by George Lucas, Star Wars: The Clone Wars followed the adventures of Anakin Skywalker, Obi-Wan Kenobi, and Padmé Amidala, as well as major new characters like Jedi Padawan Ahsoka Tano and Captain Rex, during the titular intergalactic struggle. However, it was never finished. The Clone Wars ended after five seasons — just as Ahsoka left the Jedi Order.

A few post-Season Five episodes were later released as “The Lost Missions,” but the story wasn’t over. Now, Dave Filoni, who helmed the original series, will get a chance to complete that story. Star Wars: The Clone Wars Season 7 will arrive on Disney+ in February 2020 and will cover the Siege of Mandalore, Ahsoka’s time living in Coruscant’s seedy Level 1313, and more! You’ll be able to stream Star Wars: The Clone Wars Seasons 1-5 and The Lost Missions at launch.

It leads Ezra to the frontlines of the Galactic Civil War as well as to the secrets of the Jedi.

Star Wars Resistance

The newest Star Wars animated series explores the months leading up to The Force AwakensStar Wars Resistance follows characters in the periphery of Leia’s Resistance, but who will ultimately be affected by the First Order’s attack on the New Republic.

Resistance follows Kaz Xiono, a young pilot who is recruited by Poe Dameron to spy on the First Order. His mission is to find a mole inside the Colossus, a ship refueling station located on the ocean planet Castilon. Kaz is a great pilot, but isn’t the most adept spy, leading to plenty of comedic moments to help make this the funniest of the Star Wars series. Though Star Wars Resistance Season 2 is currently airing and season 1 is now available on Disney+.
