Syfy is bringing an age old, familiar brand of geek to reality competition television with its new series, Cosplay Melee.
Hosted by Communitystar and self-proclaimed “super fan girl” Yvette Nicole Brown, Cosplay Melee seeks to unite fandom and creativity in a weekly hour-long epic battle between four passionate, innovative cosplayers picked from around the nation. These contestants will “create not only intricate full-body costumes – but fully-formed characters that they must bring to life through their own realistic performance.”
Cosplay Meleeis a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity for “amateur” (although we’ve all seen mind-blowing cosplays in the wilderness of conventions and such!) cosplayers to not only show off their craft and artistry to a television audience, but also learn from professional costume designers and makers. To top the icing on the cake, a winner gets to walk away with a whopping grand prize of $10,000 at the end of each episode.
