Geek shows and movies on UK TV in the coming week

The next seven days are full of final sips and refills beginning tomorrow morning, Saturday August 14th with a repeat broadcast from the first moments of Stargate Universe. The series’ three part opener, Air, introduces the unprepared crew of Destiny and parts 1-3 will run in succession on Sky2 starting at 9:00am. The next three episodes Darkness, Light, and Water will be shown on Wednesday, August 18th beginning at 9:00pm.

Saturday night, August 14th at 10:00pm on Channel 4, the final episode of the first series of the unlikely and often unlovable superpower-imbued Misfits is repeated. It’s an important one to catch if you haven’t seen it, and to refresh your memory if you have. The second series, due in autumn, is bound to pick up on the spot, and reveal the fate of the group of ASBOed heroes.

We get a last eyeful of That Mitchell And Webb Look‘s fourth series on BBC2 at 9:00pm, Tuesday August 17th. It’s been a great run of six episodes that proves the pair are nowhere near dry on ideas and an elderly Holmes and Watson sketch will have a special appeal after the surprise hit of the new Sherlock, which we’ll sorely miss come Sunday.

Now, on to the films showing through the weekend and a bit beyond. They include some choice picks to share with the youngest telly watchers still developing their habits. With films based on comics, a Roald Dahl story, and Muppets, there’s plenty to tempt them to the geek side.
