Geek shows and movies on UK TV in the coming week

Merlin and The Inbetweeners return, the extended Doctor Who Prom airs, and there's a lot of movies to look forward to as well...

Whether you missed the shorter version on Monday or it only made you want to watch it again, the slightly longer, fuller coverage of Doctor Who At The Proms 2010 airs tonight, Friday, September 10th at 7:00pm on BBC3. By all accounts, including our own, it was something very special and this broadcast adds about a half an hour of extra special to the enjoyment.

If you’ve stuck with the secrets and sorcery in Camelot for two series so far, you can continue your investment with the third series of Merlin, starting back on Saturday, September 11th at 7:25pm on BBC1. We hope to have weekly reviews of the show, beginning with series opener, The Tears Of Uther Pendragon.

This telly addict is admittedly not the target audience of The Inbetweeners. But when we shared the news that the show’s going big screen, it was clear quite a few geeks follow the exploits of the comprehensive adolescents Will, Jay, Neil and Simon, and would appreciate knowing the third series kicks off on Monday, September 13th at 10:00pm on E4 with The Fashion Show.

If you weren’t able to follow the saucy goings on of Sookie Stackhouse and the Bontemp crew on FX, the second season of True Blood, the supernatural series of shape shifters, blood suckers and various other biters begins on Channel 4, Thursday, September 16th at 10:00pm. The first of twelve episodes is called Nothing But The Blood and begins with screams, a fitting start to a bloody series of surprises and shocks to hit the small Southern town and its big personalities.

Now, on to the films showing through the weekend and a bit beyond. As always, if we missed anything interesting, have a shout in the comments, with our thanks.
