Avengers: Endgame Teases Valkyrie’s Return in New Character Posters

A bunch of new character posters seemingly confirm who survived the Snap in Avengers: Infinity War...

“Avenge the fallen.”

That’s the stark and simple mission statement on a slew of new character posters released by Marvel online to promote the upcoming Avengers: Endgame. The interesting bit? The characters who are still alive are in color, while the characters who didn’t survive Infinity War‘s shocking finale are rendered in black-and-white. The really interesting bit? Three characters whose fates were left unknown – namely Valkyrie (Tessa Thompson), Wong (Benedict Wong), and Happy Hogan (Jon Faverau) – are still with us, and seemingly set to appear in the epic Phase Three closer. You can see all of the posters above!

Sadly though, Wakandan tech genius Shuri (Letitia Wright) seems to have been confirmed as a Snap victim.

Last time we saw Thompson’s powerful warrior Valkyrie, she was with Thor and the rest of the Asgardian refugees aboard the Grandmaster’s spaceship at the end of Thor: Ragnarok. She was conspicuously absent when that same ship was being attacked by Thanos and the Black Order at the start of Infinity War, so we didn’t know if she was caught up in the massacre or not. But this reveal suggests that she made it out alive – and not only that, but we’ll get to see more of her in Endgame.

Elsewhere, the living have been confirmed: Iron Man, Thor, Captain America, Okoye, Captain Marvel, Black Widow, Rocket, Hulk, Ant-Man, Valkyrie, Nebula, Wong, Happy Hogan.

Meanwhile, the Snapped are Shuri, Falcon, Spider-Man, Mantis, Vision, Loki, Gamora, Scarlet Witch, Doctor Strange, Black Panther, Nick Fury. While no one expects any of these heroes to stay dead for very long, all of these absences will undoubtedly weigh heavily on the Avengers until they figure out a way to defeat Thanos and bring back their friends. Certainly, we don’t expect Cap to cry for the entire movie.

We’ll keep you updated as we hear more from Avengers: Endgame! Until then, check out our breakdown of the first and second trailers!
