Lost's John Locke in The X-Files

Simon Brew

A before-they-were-famous moment greeted Simon when he gave the first X-Files movie another spin...

When you rewatch a film or TV programme from a decade or so again, it’s almost inevitable that you’ll encounter a face that’s all-too-familiar in the present day.

And so it proves to be in the first X-Files movie, Fight The Future, where there’s the small matter of Terry O’Quinn, aka John Locke from Lost, who pops up with some quite disturbing facial appendage above his lip.

Sadly, his role in the film isn’t a big one, given that he’s, er, blown to smithereens when he sits and doesn’t bother defusing the bomb that he’s been sent in to stop. But as FBI agent Darius Michaud, he does get to practice that serious look that would serve him so well nearly ten years down the line.

The new X-Files film, I Want To Believe, hits UK cinemas from 1st August, and our piece where we revisit the first film in full is here.

Strange timing this story. I just had my own Locke-spotting moment in Tombstone . He keeps popping up - a lot recently - in things I never noticed him in.

Amazing. In other news, Terry O'Quinn is also in the West Wing as the chairman of the Joint Chiefs, Star Trek and probably some other shows, too!

He's also in an earlier episode of the X-Files series as a completely different character! I can't remember the name of it off-hand! There's actually loads of guest stars on the X-Files with movies/series out. Jack Black, Lucy Liu, Shia LaBeouf, Felicity Huffman, Krista Allen, Lucy Lawless, Callum Keith Rennie, the list goes on!!!
