Fargo Season 4 Trailer and Release Date

Fargo Season 4 is coming soon to FX, brandishing an intriguing cast led by comedian Chris Rock!

Fargo creator Noah Hawley is one of the busiest men in Hollywood right now, which means the award-winning series was put on hitaus longer than fans anticipated. Thankfully, FX brought Hawley back for Fargo Season 4, brandishing the intriguing cast addition of Chris Rock, who will be the lead in this installment of the anthology series.

While Fargo Season 3 was another ratings winner for FX, some critics of the show believe that the premise has gone stale. Though we largely enjoyed the quieter, more personal third season, we have to admit that the routine runs the risk of getting tired. Fargo Season 4 certainly will be speculated on by fans and critics wondering what shape it will take when it returns.

Fargo Season 4 Trailer

A new trailer for Fargo‘s COVID-delayed fourth season has arrived. Ironically enough, amidst the clip’s montage of mirthful violence, the most frightening imagery here for a 2020 audience has to be the plethora of—1950s-appropriate—spit handshakes. Seriously… not even once.

Just below is the pre-delay first trailer for the season, showcasing the irreverent 1950s-set intra-political clashes of spit-shaking Kansas City gangsters.

Fargo Season 4 Release Date

Fargo Season 4 will premiere on FX on Sunday, September 27 at 10 p.m. ET/PT.

FX had originally scheduled a release date of Sunday, April 19 before the coronavirus outbreak resulted in a production delay.

Fargo Season 4 Cast

Chris Rock takes the lead on Fargo Season 4, playing Loy Cannon, the head of an African-American crime family: “A man who — in order to prosper — has surrendered his oldest boy to his enemy, and who must in turn raise his son’s enemy as his own.” After returning in 2018 with a Netflix standup special, Rock now has his first lead dramatic role on a television series.

Timothy Olyphant co-stars as a character named Dick “Deafy” Wickware. Olyphant, best known as the star of HBO’s Deadwood and FX’s Justified (both of which earned him Primetime Emmy nods), is coming off a run on Netflix’s canceled zombie comedy, Santa Clarita Diet, along with a role reprisal as Seth Bullock in HBO’s 13-years-in-the-making follow-up, Deadwood: The Movie. He’ll next be seen in director Theordore Melfi’s film drama, The Starling, joined by Melissa McCarthy and his Santa Clarita Diet onscreen son, Skyler Gisondo.

The rest of the cast, revealed via FX, consists of the following:

Fargo Season 4 Plot Details

FX has released the first details of the new season, which will take viewers to a new part of the country. Here’s the synopsis:

In 1950, at the end of two great American migrations — that of Southern Europeans from countries like Italy, who came to the US at the turn of the last century and settled in northern cities like New York, Chicago — and African Americans who left the south in great numbers to escape Jim Crow and moved to those same cities — you saw a collision of outsiders, all fighting for a piece of the American dream. In Kansas City, Missouri, two criminal syndicates have struck an uneasy peace. One Italian, one African American. Together they control an alternate economy — that of exploitation, graft and drugs. This too is the history of America.  To cement their peace, the heads of both families have traded their eldest sons.

At this point “Fargo” basically means “the entire Midwest.”
