The Walking Dead: Daryl’s Dog Origin Revealed in Exclusive Clip
Daryl meets Dog for the first time in this exclusive clip from The Walking Dead season 10 episode 18! Plus our first look at Lynn Collins' mysterious Leah...
The Walking Dead season 10 continues to dig into the past with “Find Me,” which takes a look back at the years Daryl spent in exile from Alexandria searching for Rick Grimes after the bridge explosion in season 9 that marked Andrew Lincoln’s exit from the show. We all know Rick isn’t dead, but Daryl doesn’t so he spends the next six years searching for any sign of the Alexandrian leader’s remains. At the very least so that Daryl can put the man he calls “his brother” to rest.
Daryl revisits this unseen period in his life while out hunting with Carol, as memories of his lost years begin to come back to him. But we won’t spoil what’s coming up in the episode. Just read the synopsis for “Find Me” below for some hints:
“Daryl and Carol find an old cabin that takes Daryl back to his years away from the group after Rick disappeared. He relives the painful memory of meeting a reticent survivor and the toxic events that amplified his relationship with Dog.”
Indeed, Dog plays a major role in the episode as the trusty companion who bridges that gap between Daryl’s past and present. The very good boy also leads Daryl to a new character he’ll meet in the episode: the mysterious Leah, who is played by Lynn Collins (True Blood). Daryl and Leah’s first meeting is far from friendly, as you can see below in an exclusive clip from the episode:
But let’s get back to Dog, The Walking Dead series regular you all want to hear about. You’ll be pleased to learn that “Find Me” pretty much serves as an origin story for Daryl’s faithful companion. We learn how Daryl first met the best boy, where Dog was before his debut in season 9, and his connection to Leah. That means there are like 768923154 Dog scenes in this episode, which automatically makes “Find Me” the best Walking Dead episode ever made. So you should definitely watch it.
The episode also features some interesting moments between Daryl and Carol, which you’ll want to pay special attention to, since the fan-favorite duo are set to star in their own spinoff once the final season of The Walking Dead has wrapped in 2022. Some very early seeds regarding what’s next for Daryl and Carol might be planted in “Find Me.” There’s still some healing that needs to happen between these two characters after the events of the Whisperer War, and “Find Me” begins that process in earnest.
But while all the other characters might be haunted by their pasts in this episode, you’ll find that Dog is as happy as can be. He’s running around, he’s barking, he’s looking for treats, he’s keeping his poppa company. Basically, viewers should come for the drama and stay for the dog.
“Find Me” airs on Sunday, March 7 at 9 pm ET on AMC.
