Some months after Avengers: Endgame snapped up enough box office bucks to become the highest-grossing film of all time, the massive Marvel team-up movie has arrived on the Disney+ streaming service. And a deleted scene from the movie, starring 13 Reasons Why actress Katherine Langford, has been released via Disney+ to boot.

Bear in mind that this scene has been filmed with a phone camera off of a TV, or some similar combination of devices, so the visual and audio quality isn’t as good as it should be. And now, with that disclaimer out of the way, feel free to watch the extra Endgame scene below.
Mirroring the scene from Avengers: Infinity War which saw a post-snap Thanos chatting to a young Gamora on a mysterious and mystical plane, this scene would’ve slotted into Endgame right after Tony’s big “I am Iron Man” snap…
It’s… um… not very good, is it? The dialogue seems a bit squiffy, the attempts to tug on our heart-strings are a bit too obvious, and you could argue that Katherine Langford is a bit too recognizable as the star of a smash-hit Netflix series for audiences to properly believe that she’s the grown-up version of Tony and Pepper’s daughter Morgan (the role which young Lexi Rabe played so fantastically in the main chunk of the film).
In an interview on the excellent Happy Sad Confused podcast, directors Joe and Anthony Russo already addressed the reasoning behind their decision to cut this scene. As we reported at the time, Joe Russo said this about the scene: “The intention was that his future daughter, because these films are dealing with magic, his future daughter forgave him and sort of gave him peace to go. And the idea felt resonant. But it was just too many ideas in an overly complicated movie.”

Hitting the nail on the head, Anthony Russo added this: “What we realised about it was we didn’t feel an emotional association with the adult version of his daughter. So, it wasn’t ringing to us and resonating with us on an emotional level.”
