Star Wars Jedi: Fallen Order – KOTOR 2 Writer Worked on Game

Star Wars: KOTOR 2 writer Chris Avellone worked on Respawn's upcoming Jedi: Fallen Order.

It sounds like Chris Avellone (lead designer and writer of Star Wars: Knights of the Old Republic 2, writer of Prey, and writer of Fallout: New Vegas), worked on Respawn’s Star Wars: Jedi Fallen Order in some capacity.

“I can’t say 100% b/c of NDAs, but the ones I can say: I just finished up work with Jedi: The Fallen Order,” said Avellone on Twitter in response to a question regarding what he has been working on. “Beyond that, there’s another big bomb dropping in a month! Er, I mean, maybe. Ahem.”

While Avellone didn’t expand on how he contributed to the game, others noted that his Linkedin profile notes that he worked on Fallen Order for almost a year and seemingly helped oversee the game’s story and made some story and character contributions. He also may have contributed cinematic scripts to the game. He Linkedin profile also includes a very strange quote which reads: “Jedi are basically space monks who use telekinesis, mind control, and occasional bursts of lasersword violence in order to impose their values on the rest of the galaxy.”

That quote is already being interpreted as some kind of hint regarding Fallen Order‘s story. However, it’s not entirely clear at this time whether or not it’s fair to say that Avellone “wrote” Fallen Order. It sounds like he certainly contributed some writing to the game, but his job description suggests he may have served in more of an advisory capacity. It also seems unlikely that he would tease the Fallen Order story so far ahead of time, but anything is possible.

What’s really interesting, though, is that “big bomb” that Avellone teases. Based on the timing he noted, and his involvement with Hardsuit Labs (a Paradox studio), some people are speculating that he might also be working on that rumored Vampire: The Masquerade project that is being teased by that strange Tender app.

So far as Star Wars goes, nobody is more excited to hear that Avellone might be working on a new Star Wars game than yours truly. KOTOR 2 boasts one of the most interesting and complicated Star Wars stories in any medium, and it would be fantastic to see him return to this universe.
