The Pokémon Go team has revealed the first details for the popular mobile game‘s next event: Luminous Legends.

“A legend will soon illuminate our world: Xerneas, the Life Pokémon, will make its Pokémon GO debut during the Luminous Legends X event,” says the Pokémon Go team. “Some Dragon- and Fairy-type Pokémon originally discovered in the Kalos region will be coming along for the journey as well, such as Spritzee, Swirlix, and Goomy! A new item will also be coming to Pokémon GO—the Rainy Lure Module, which can be used to evolve Sliggoo (the Evolution of Goomy) into Goodra. You can also evolve Sliggoo when the in-game weather is rainy.”

While the developers are currently withholding some information in order to ensure that Pokémon Go players encounter a few surprises along the way, here’s what you need to know about the major new Pokémon being added to the game as part of this event and how you’ll find them out in the wild:

Pokémon Go Luminous Legends Event: Start Time

The next Pokémon Go event will start on Tuesday, May 4, at 10:00 am and end on Monday, May 17, at 8:00 p.m. The official announcement notes that those times are “local”, so it seems that they will vary based on your region. All the same, you might want to keep an eye out on those days for any last-minute updates regarding the exact start and end times.

Finally, the appearance of Fairy, Dragon, and Psychic Pokémon will be increased during Raids and event-exclusive Field Research tasks.

Pokémon Go Luminous Legends Event: How to Catch Goomy

Unfortunately, there doesn’t seem to be a specific way to catch Goomy or increase your odds of finding the creature. According to the Pokémon Go team, it will be a very rare encounter and you’ll need to be “extremely lucky” to catch it.

Pokémon Go Luminous Legends Event: How to Catch Xerneas

Pokémon Go Luminous Legends Event: How to Catch Yveltal

From Tuesday, May 18, 2021, at 10:00 a.m. to Tuesday, June 1, 2021, at 10:00 a.m. local time, Yveltal will make its Pokémon Go debut in available five-star raids. Like Xerneas, the Pokémon Go team hasn’t indicated that there will be any other way to catch Yveltal outside of raids and that time frame.

Pokémon Go Luminous Legends Event: How to Catch Swirlix

Unlike some of the other new Pokémon being added to the game as part of this event, there are actually a few ways to catch Swirlix.

The first is to simply find Swirlix in the wild. As always, though, the odds of encountering a Swirlix in the wild outside of certain circumstances are largely random.

If you’re looking to improve your odds, you’ll have a better chance of catching Swirlix by participating in the upcoming Timed Research events as well as Field Research tasks. Both will offer a better chance to find Swirlix’s Pokémon type in the wild, but that of course means you may just run into every other Pokémon of that type.

Finally, you may be able to find Swirlix by hatching 7 km Eggs. There’s no guarantee you’ll actually find one in those eggs, but your chances of finding one via this method seem to be better than simply running into one in the wild.

Pokémon Go Luminous Legends Event: How to Catch Spritzee

Spritzee can actually be caught in pretty much all the same scenarios you find Swirlix in. That is to say that Spritzee can be found in the wild, but you’ll have a better chance to catch it if you participate in Timed Research events, Field Research tasks, and if you start hatching 7 km Eggs.

Pokémon Go Luminous Legends Event: How to Evolve Goomy Into Goodra

If you do catch a Goomy, you’ll be able to evolve it into Sliggo using 25 candy and then evolve your Sliggo into Goodra using the new Rain Lure Module when you’re by a PokéStop. You’ll also be able to evolve Sliggo into Goodra when it’s naturally raining outside.

Despite those interesting circumstances, there’s currently no indication that Goomy will be easier to catch when it’s raining.
