In absolutely stunning fashion, “We Don’t Talk About Bruno” from Disney’s Encanto has hit number one on the Billboard Hot 100 charts nearly three months after the movie was released.
“Have you watched Encanto yet? Even if the answer is no, you’ve probably heard of it — or, more likely, heard some of the catchy songs from it. The animated Disney musical debuted in late December and tells the story of the magical (and dysfunctional) Madrigal family, who live in a mystical house in the mountains of Colombia. It features colorful visuals and lavish musical numbers from the powerful mind of Lin-Manuel Miranda. And it’s brought us some of 2022’s earliest earworms.”
Check out The Riddler causing mayhem at a funeral in the first clip from The Batman.
“Warner Bros. is trying its hand again at rebooting the ever-popular Batman franchise. This time it’s director Matt Reeves (Dawn of the Planet of the Apes) behind the camera and Twilight veteran Robert Pattinson under the cowl. The new movie, simply called The Batman, looks like it will take things back to the Christopher Nolan era, with a story that’s grim and dark but still somewhat grounded in reality.”
Time travel has populated science fiction filmmaking for years, but no sci-fi film has been quite like About Time. Here’s why you should revisit the romance-drama flick.
“Rachel McAdams KNOWS a thing or two about love… and time travel. The charismatic actor has starred in many romantic movies, but can any of her other contemporaries also say they’ve played a time traveler’s wife twice? Four years later, McAdams took on a much lighter spin on the role, playing an effortlessly cool romantic lead opposite Domhnall Gleeson’s bumbling time traveler in About Time. Richard Curtis’ 2013 romantic drama, now streaming on Netflix, is a heartwarming drama with a sci-fi twist that teases out big ideas about our relationship with time.”
The highly anticipated sequel to the Halloween classic Hocus Pocus is set to drop on Disney+, well, this Halloween!
“Listen up, Millennials and Gen Z, it’s time to form a calming circle before we all start running amok (amok! amok!) because the production team behind Hocus Pocus 2 has just released more information about the long-awaited sequel!”
As if the first season weren’t already convoluted enough, the second season of Apple TV+’s Foundation has added ten new members to the cast.
“Apple TV+’s loose adaptation of the classic Foundation sci-fi novels has just gotten a little looser. Ten new actors have been added to the cast to play 10 new characters on the show—and six of them appear to be very new, having not appeared in any of Isaac Asimov’s seven Foundation novels. I’ve written off the TV series and thus refuse to get further upset about how it mangles the source material, but I think it is… interesting to see how much further Foundation is willing to deviate from its infamously difficult-to-adapt source material. Here are the actors, characters, and quick bios, all courtesy of Apple TV+.”
January is always a slow month for the entertainment industry, but here are some highlights to the kickoff to 2022.
“The first month of 2022 is coming to an end, so here are the ten best films and episodes of TV in January 2022, and where to watch them. The new year started off with a bang with Doctor Who’s an annual self-contained holiday special, ‘Eve of the Daleks.’ This month we also dove deeper into Chris’ troubled upbringing in a dramatic Peacemaker and watched BJ get baptized in a stellar episode of The Righteous Gemstones. DC’s Legends Of Tomorrow served up one of its funniest episodes ever, and mysteries were solved in a riveting episode of Yellowjackets.”
