Sonic the Hedgehog 2 breaks multiple box office records, including the biggest opening ever for video game movies and the biggest opening of Jim Carrey’s career.

“After the success of the original Sonic the Hedgehog back in 2020, it was a foregone conclusion that this weekend’s Sonic 2 would be a hit at the box office. People love Sonic, they love Jim Carrey, and they love themselves some Idris Elba doing surprisingly good in roles you wouldn’t have normally pegged him for. Add the fact that there hasn’t really been a big theatrical release family film yet for 2022, and is it any wonder that the Blue Blur’s sophomore outing is doing well in its opening weekend?”

“Fowler recently expressed his interest in making a film based on Nintendo‘s Super Smash Bros., the beloved fighting game franchise introduced back in 1999 that brings together characters from a variety of series. ‘Nothing would make me happier than to just throw all the characters into a battle royale,’ said Fowler. ‘Getting Mario and Sonic in the ring, I mean everyone would be kinda dying for that, right? That’s just classic.'”

“Brie Larson is coming back to Earth after crossing the galaxies as Captain Marvel. The actress will be joining the cast of the Fast and Furious 10, the penultimate film in the epic car racing/world-saving franchise. Star Vin Diesel made the announcement on Instagram, writing ‘Yeah yeah yeah… you see this angel over my shoulder cracking me up, you say to your self ‘that’s Captain Marvel.'”
