The Boom Studios Power Rangers comics have given us things the TV show never could. Hundreds of Rangers in combat on the moon, monsters impossible even for Toei to create, and storylines that we could have only dreamed of. However, one of the best things to come out of the Boom comics are the Zord battles.

As cool as they are in the show, the ability to render a Zord battle on the drawn page is something to behold. The things that can do when they don’t have to move a person in a costume or a model around have been spectacular to see. Issue #55 of Power Rangers is no exception and we’ve got the first few pages below for you to read.

That opening splash page is a work of art. Where in the show the Rangers would often jump right to the Megazord? Here we’ve got pages of single Zord combat, taking on not just monsters of the day but the Dark Rangers’ TerrorZords. These are the images you can only get in the Boom Comics and they make great use of them. Plus you’ve got Zedd looking over all it, living up to his full evil potential.

And these are just the opening few pages! It looks like this fight could take up a large chunk of the issue and we can’t wait to see more. In case you missed the summary of the issue’ we’ve got it below.

It’s a battle for the ages—the Power Rangers’ THUNDERZORDS vs the Dark Rangers’ TERRORZORDS—and nothing will ever be the same! Plus, the shocking first appearance of the character no Power Rangers fan EVER expected, setting the stage for the upcoming era of UNLIMITED POWER in the brand new series Mighty Morphin and Power Rangers in November 2020.

Mighty Morphin Power Rangers #55, is written by Ryan Parrott (Mighty Morphin Power Rangers/Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles), drawn by Moisés Hidalgo (Buffy the Vampire Slayer), colored by Igor Monti with assistance by Sabrina Del Grosso, and lettered by Ed Dukeshire, featuring the first appearance of the brand new Green Ranger, available on October 21, 2020.

And don’t forget, this is not the end of the Power Rangers comics. As the summary mentioned above, two new series are coming in November and we have no doubt this issue will have a giant cliffhanger to take us into those. Stay tuned for more on the Power Rangers comics!
