Long before there was a sisterhood of traveling pants or 13 reasons why, there was a club…a club of baby-sitters.

Netflix is adapting the beloved and long-running book series The Baby-Sitters Club into a modern iteration aimed at the baby-sitters of today. The 10-episode adaptation will follow the friendship and adventures of five middle school-aged friends as they start a baby-sitting business in Stoneybrook, Connecticut.

The show is produced by original Baby-Sitters Club author Ann M. Martin and Rachel Shukert (GLOW) will serve as showrunner. Lucia Aniello, Lucy Kitada, Michael De Luca, Frank Smith and Naia Cucukov are all attached as executive producers.

The series of Baby-Sitters Club novels ran from 1986 through 2000 and sold 176 million copies. The novels were trailblazers in the burgeoning young adult literature scene. A 13-episode TV series adaptation previously aired in 1990 on HBO and Nickelodeon. The franchise also received a movie adaptation in 1995.
