Here's a secret; Valve doesn't care about the people boycotting Left 4 Dead ^2 they aren't going to be the market anyway.

the boycott campaign is ridiculous. I finally got around to playing Valves Half Life 2 last week in the form of the Orange Box. Took me 3 days to to the game and Episodes 1 and 2. Now, I am quite sure that The Orange Box will never enter my xbox again. Now, I play Left 4 Dead a hell of a lot, its mine and my gfs passtime of choice. It cost me £5 less than the Orange Box. Id be happy to pay another £40 for L4D just because its that good. To complain about a sequel with new protagonists, maps, AI, weapons et al is ridiculous. Id much prefer a whole new game to the excuse of an update that was Episodes 1 and 2 for Half Life.

I've finally bought an XBox 360 and I know how good L4D is, but I'm holding off to see what the sequel is like. If it's good, even if it's "more of the same" then it'll be a definite purchase for me.

its a definate purchase for me. Its only the 2nd game in 10 years to pull me from Pro Evo for more than a week. Iv hardly played it in months for the simple reason that Left 4 Dead is brilliant. It even gets more play than Halo in my house!

Left 4 Dead 2: seven screenshots released

Simon Brew

There’s been unrest greeting Valve’s Left 4 Dead 2: will these screenshots dampen the protests?

There’s been a surprisingly mixed reaction to Valve’s announcement of Left 4 Dead 2 the other week, with many followers of the quite brilliant original game worried that it means all effort and emphasis will switch to the new game, at the expense of maintaining the first.

Many are already threatening to boycott Left 4 Dead 2 when it arrives in November, just a year after the original made its debut. And while the fracas continues, Valve has released a series of screenshots from the new game.

We’ll come back to the protests soon, but for now, click on the screens to magically make them bigger…
