You wanted more Ramy? You got ’em.

Hulu officially picked up Ramy season 2 back in May. Ramy Season 2 will contain 10 episodes. The renewal marks the third comedy re-up for Hulu for the 2020 season; Second seasons for Pen15 and Shrill are forthcoming.

Ramy season 1 premiered on April 19, 2019. The series won the audience award at SXSW for episodic premieres and earned glowing reviews (including our own). Ramy stars comedian Ramy Youssef as a fictionalized version of himself, a young first generation Egyptian-American who is caught between living a millennial lifestyle while maintaining his Muslim beliefs. Youssef is the creator, writer, and executive producer. Jerrod Carmichael also produces the show. The series co-stars Mohammed Amer, Amr Waked, Hiam Abbass, May Calamawy, and Dave Merheje. Youssef went on to win a Golden Globe for Actor in Television Series – Musical or Comedy.

“We created a story about this family. So there’s two generations here in America. So many of the stories that are always seen were like you watch the first gen kids kind of be like ‘I won’t want to be like you, mom and dad. I want to do my own thing.’ It’s kind of like a fight,” ,” Youssef told Den of Geek about the origins of the show. “And that wasn’t really my experience. For me, it’s always been I want to be part of the culture, but I also want to be part of the American culture we were raised in.”

Ramy Season 2 Release Date

During its appearance at the 2020 winter TCA press tour, Hulu VP Craig Erwich revealed Ramy season 2’s release date Ramy season 2 will premiere all 10 episodes on Friday, May 29.

Ramy Season 2 Cast

Ramy is getting a major addition for season 2. Fresh off the excitement of the epic Blade announcement at San Diego Comic-Con, Mahershala Ali is set to play a guest role in the Hulu comedy. The announcement was made at the Summer TCA Press Tour. According to our sources on the ground at TCA, Ali, the two-time Oscar winner, did not appear on stage and don a Ramy hat.

Also appearing in Ramy season 2 are Mohammed Amer, Hiam Abbass, Amr Waked, May Calamawy, Dave Merheje, Laith Nakli and Steve Way.
