Midnight Mass: Cast and Details for Netflix Series from Haunting of Hill House Team

The Haunting of Hill House’s Mike Flanagan and Trevor Macy will head another Netflix horror series, titled Midnight Mass.

The Haunting of Hill House visionaries Mike Flanagan and Trevor Macy are already enjoying some success on the global platform of Netflix, with their anthology horror series set to begin production for a second season, under the title, The Haunting of Bly Manor. However, the duo of that show’s creator/executive producer Flanagan and executive producer Macy are set to bring even more serial supernatural horror to Netflix, with the streaming giant’s order for new series Midnight Mass.

Netflix announced a straight-to-series order for Midnight Mass for a 7-episode inaugural season back in July. The official logline for the series teases a supernatural story centered on a man of the collar, describing “an isolated island community experiences miraculous events – and frightening omens – after the arrival of a charismatic, mysterious young priest.”

Midnight Mass Cast

Zach Gilford (L.A.’s Finest, The Purge: Anarchy), Kate Siegel (The Haunting of Hill House, Ouija: Origin of Evil) and Hamish Linklater (Legion, Tell Me Your Secrets) are set for the lead roles in Netflix’s Midnight Mass.

They will be joined by the following supporting cast members (some of whom – like Siegel – mark returns for the Flanagan/Macy creative coalition):

Henry Thomas (The Haunting of Hill House), Annabeth Gish (The Haunting of Hill House), Michael Trucco (Hunter Killer), Samantha Sloyan (Grey’s Anatomy), Matt Biedel (Altered Carbon), Rahul Abburi (Killer Ransom), Crystal Balint (The Bletchley Circle: San Francisco), Kristin Lehman (The Chronicles of Riddick), Alex Essoe (Doctor Sleep), Rahul Kohli (Supergirl), Robert Longstreet (Doctor Sleep), Igby Rigney (Blue Bloods) and Annarah Shephard.

Midnight Mass Details

The Haunting duo of Flanagan and Macy will serve in similar roles for the new series, with Flanagan as credited creator, director, as well as executive producer, joined in the latter capacity by Macy. The duo – who also worked on this past November’s Stephen King sequel adaptation, Doctor Sleep – have already collectively conjured up ghostly offerings such as Netflix film Gerald’s Game, Ouija: Origin of Evil, Hush and the Karen Gillan-starring Oculus. Thus, don’t expect Midnight Mass to stray too far from their horror wheelhouse.

Flanagan and Macy’s procurement of yet another horror series on Netflix is hardly Earth-shattering, seeing as the quickly-ordered renewal of their anthology series, The Haunting of Hill House (a loose adaptation of the Shirley Jackson novel of the same name), was buttressed by the announcement of an overall deal they secured with the streaming giant. The duo also have their hands full with the second season of Haunting, the aforementioned The Haunting of Bly Manor, which adapts a template-setting haunted house story, 1898 Henry James novella The Turn of the Screw, which will see Hill House cast member Victoria Pedretti return, this time in the starring role.

Midnight Mass Release Date

Midnight Mass does not have a Netflix release date as of yet. Filming is set to commence sometime this spring in Vancouver, British Columbia, Canada.
