The dead skin enthusiast group, The Whisperers, remain the biggest threat to our crew on The Walking Dead. But just because the Whisperers have Alpha dog status (see what we did there?) doesn’t mean that the boring old walking dead can’t still cause some damage.
As evidenced in this exclusive new clip from The Walking Dead season 10 episode 4 “Silence the Whisperers,” fighting the dead is exhausting work. Watch below as Yumiko, Magna, Connie, Nora, and Luke all use their respective weapons of choice to defend Hilltop Colony against a horde of walkers.
Now that The Walking Dead is several years into the zombie apocalypse, bullets are at a premium and the survivors use a range of ranged and melee weapons against all foes. In this Avengers-style splash page of a scene, it’s fascinating to see the diversity of weapons and techniques at play.
Luke has a multidimensional axe to plunge into undead heads; Magna has a kind of mini warhammer for added agility, and Yumiko, Nora, and Connie all handle things from afar with arrows and slingshots. Things seem to be going well in their zombie-killing endeavors before the horde starts to overwhelm them and Yumiko calls for a hasty retreat.
Why Magna’s crew is outside the walls of Hilltop defending the community from walkers remains to be seen but it’s nice to see this relatively new group getting some work in. The synopsis for “Silence the Whisperers” reads: “Still paranoid Alexandrians get riled up over the Whisperers and take their fear out on Negan. Back at Hilltop, the group deals with an unexpected safety issue.”
The title of the episode borrows an interesting phrase from the comics. “Silence the Whisperers” is graffiti that spontaneously pops up around Alexandria during the groups’ conflict with their foes. The Whisperers thrive on fear and the characters of The Walking Dead TV show and comic both seem properly spooked by them.
The Walking Dead season 10 episode 4 “Silence the Whisperers” airs on Sunday, October 27 at 9 p.m. ET on AMC.
