Quantico Canceled By ABC After Three Seasons

ABC has canceled spy drama Quantico after three seasons, making the network TV landscape a sadly spy-free place.

The pre-network upfronts destruction continues.

ABC has canceled spy drama Quantico after three seasons.

Quantico has lived its entire life on the bubble. There were serious doubts following both its first and second seasons that the show would get renewed. It cheated death both of those times and was most recently renewed for a 13-episode third season that debuted on April 26. Now its luck has finally run out.

Created by Joshua Safran, the ABC terrorism drama got out of the gates strong in season one but quickly ran out of steam. It starred the very intriguing Priyanka Chopra as Alex Parrish, a talented FBI recruit who joins the agency after training at Quantico. In season one she becomes the prime suspect after a terrorist attack on Grand Central Terminal.

Quantico‘s biggest issue is that it was forced to become a fundamentally different show each season. Quantico Season 1 was very self-contained and told an appealing story via multiple timelines. In seasons two and three, however, the show was unable to sustain that initial story and had to find new things for Alex Parrish to do.

The show’s third season saw Michael Seitzman (Code Black) take over as showrunner and introduced Marlee Matlin to the cast. Quantico Season 3 still has 10 episodes to go with the next one airing May 25.

This is undoubtedly a trying time for star Chopra but at least she has her friend Meghan Markle’s wedding to look forward to.
