Dan Harmon Goes On Anti-Nazi Rant, Wants You to Fight Fascism

If you weren’t already aware, creator of Community and co-creator of Rick and Morty, Dan Harmon, has a weekly live podcast he does called HarmonTown, which mostly consists of him speaking his mind.The most recent HarmonTown began with Dan saying, “Hello, how are you, and the usual niceties. I also should add I’m not a Nazi.”

Obviously, this was in reaction to the recent disturbing and tragic events in Charlottesville, Virginia, in which literal, actual Nazis took to the streets, killed a woman (32-year old Heather Heyer), and injured at least 15 other counterprotestors.

Harmon proceeds to go on an impassioned six-minute rant about how it should be easy to say you’re not a Nazi, but apparently it’s difficult for the President of the United States, who Dan labels a “compulsively dishonest parasite” who has, de facto, “decreed that he is a Nazi.”

He continues by saying, “the discourse is over.” He recommends you tell people who suggest lending an open ear to Nazis to “go fuck themselves. The discourse is over. War has begun.” He explains that he understands that a portion of the country doesn’t want to political but “it’s not politics to say you’re not a Nazi! It’s like taking a shit! You just do it! Or you explode! You die if you don’t shit and you die if you don’t say you’re not a Nazi!”

Dan lays it out very clearly: fascism is happening in the United States.

“We’re fucking dead, maybe. Or maybe they’re dead. That’s about it. It’s not a continuum. There’s no grey area.”

I recommend watching the entire rant, which is furiously, brilliantly stated and is really quite uplifting, that is, if you’re not a Nazi.
