Better Call Saul Season 5: Lalo Helps Out in Episode 2 Clip (Exclusive)
Lalo Salamanca pays a visit to his tio in this exclusive clip from Better Call Saul season 5 episode 2, "50% Off."
The Better Call Saul fiesta continues!
Better Call Saul season 5 premiered its stellar first episode, “Magic Man,” last night. The experience was so fun that AMC decided to just go ahead and air another one tonight. In keeping with it usual release tradition, Better Call Saul season 5 will now settle into its usual Monday at 9 p.m. timeslot. The first episode to air on Monday this year is episode two, “50% Off.” The plot description reads:
“Jimmy’s promotional stunt has unintended consequences; Nacho takes extreme measures to earn Lalo’s trust; Saul is a success at the courthouse but still has yet to win Kim over; simmering with rage and self-loathing, Mike loses his temper.”
Now we can share with you an exclusive clip from the episode that features two characters from the Breaking Bad universe’s extensive criminal underworld. Give it a look below.
That’s very nice of Lalo Salamanca to pay a visit to his uncle, Hector Salamanca, at a luxurious aftercare facility. Hector’s nurse wants Lalo to help Hector drink his “Fizzy K,” an important concoction that helps Hector stay hydrated. It’s even “Very Berry” flavored – Hector’s favorite! Lalo has a better idea of what Hector might want though, dumping out the Fizzy K and replacing it with some liquor (probably tequila) straight from the flask. Even through a straw, good tequila is still good tequila.
The Salamancas are a prominent crime family on Better Call Saul and Hector is an important character to both the Saul and Breaking Bad mythos. The end of Better Call Saul season 3 finally saw the arrival of an event long in the making when Hector suffered a debilitating stroke. His longtime rival, Gus Fring, paid off a doctor to make sure that Hector’s condition would improve only enough for him to be conscious, but still locked into this body. It’s in this state that we find Hector Salamanca during the events of Breaking Bad. Gus wanted his enemy incapacitated but aware…and as he eventually comes to find out, Gus probably should have finished Hector off when he got the chance.
Lalo Salamanca is set to be a big player in Better Call Saul season 5. Following Hector’s ouster, the Salamanca crime family was left with a power vacuum and only the unblooded Nacho Varga to fill out. So the Jaurez Cartel brought in Lalo, an enforcer and Hector’s nephew, to take over. Lalo is very much aware that Gus is up to something and is equally committed to stopping him. Though we know he will likely fail to take Gus down, it should be fascinating to watch his attempts. Such is life on a prequel.
