Agents of SHIELD Season 5 Cast

Agents of SHIELD added some new faces to its Season 5 cast.

Descendants star Dove Cameron was cast as Ruby, the daughter of General Hale. The young actress announced the casting via her Instagram account with this adorably enigmatic video, featuring Clark Gregg…

For the first major arc of the season, we had a few new faces. Jeff Ward was introduced as Deke, described as “the ultimate survivor and rogueish scavenger,” he might not be the best person to trust, but he’s a good man to have in your corner if you can get him there.

Next up is Eve Harlow as Tess, a resourceful young woman who believes in the people around her and in a better future for everyone. You may recognize Harlow from her turn as Maya on The 100.

Coy Stewart was introduced as Flint, a young man who “has been forced to grow up in a tough environment” and whose run in with the SHIELD team may be his chance to prove what he’s capable of.

Finally, we have Pruitt Taylor Vince playing Grill, a “gruff taskmaster,” who wields his power in cruel, effective ways.

In other casting news, Nick Blood, aka Lance Hunter, returned for a Season 5 guest spot.

Natalia Cordova-Buckley was promoted to the main cast for Agents of SHIELD Season 5, reports Deadline.

Cordova-Buckley has been fielding the recurring role of the super-powered Yo-Yo Rodriguez since early 2016 in Season 3, Episode 11, “Bouncing Back.” The character was introduced as a Terrigenesis-transformed Columbian vigilante who wields quick-speed powers that bounce her back and forth between fixed points (like a yo-yo). She quickly became a valuable ally to the SHIELD gang, eventually recruited as a member and became a romantic interest to Mack (Henry Simmons). In a testament to the character’s popularity, she starred in the Emmy-nominated 2016 Agents of SHIELD 6-part digital miniseries, Slingshot.

Cordova-Buckley’s Yo-Yo is based off a Marvel Comics character of the same name, who was introduced in the pages of Mighty Avengers in 2008. The comic character is depicted as a Puerto Rican woman whose powers are attributed to her being a mutant (an unwelcome IP concept on the show), who also sports a signature shaved head. The character operates under the nom de guerre, Slingshot.
