The Adventures Of Tintin 2 is Still Alive
The plan for Peter Jackson to direct a Tintin sequel is still very much alive...
When Steven Spielberg directed The Adventures Of Tintin back at the start of the decade, the plan was for Peter Jackson to do part two, and for a third part to follow shortly after (with a director for that one never confirmed). Jackson’s subsequent commitment to making what became The Hobbit trilogy of films, however, put pay to that. And as each year passed, another Tintin film seemed less likely.
But while doing the press tour for Ready Player One, Spielberg has given an update on the project, and insisted that Tintin 2 is actually still alive.
“Peter Jackson has to do the second part. Normally, if all goes well, he will soon start working on the script. As it takes two years of animation work on the film, for you, I would not expect to see it for about three years. But Peter will stick to it. Tintin is not dead!” he insisted (via Premiere).
Jackson is currently overseeing, but not directing, the terrific-looking Mortal Engines. He’s also in post-production on a World War II documentary that he’s directed, that doesn’t yet have a title. Presumably, once that’s out the way, he can focus on Tintin again…
