Ford v Ferrari Trailer, Cast, Story Details, and More
Christian Bale and Matt Damon lend serious star power to James Mangold's explosive racing drama, Ford v Ferrari.
James Mangold has made more than a few movies about tough guys in tough situations going the distance. Be it Johnny Cash in Walk the Line, Christian Bale’s rancher in 3:10 to Yuma, or the goshdarn Wolverine himself in Logan, it’s a theme present in many of his best movies. And now it’s hitting the race track in Ford v Ferrari, a new high-octane racing drama that’s based on a true story. One which reunites him with Bale and also teams him with Matt Damon, no less. Here is what you need to know.

Ford v Ferrari Cast
The film of course stars Matt Damon and Christian Bale in a classic two-hander scenario. Damon plays Carroll Shelby, the real-life engineer tasked with coming up with a vehicle that could best Enzo Ferrari’s seemingly unbeatable speedsters at the 24 Hours of Le Mans in 1966. Bale, meanwhile, is Ken Miles, the British racer who has a history with Shelby, not all of it ecstatic.
Also among the cast is the invaluable Tracy Letts (Lady Bird) as Henry Ford II, who ran the Ford Corporation from 1945 until the ’80s, including in the film’s setting of 1966 when he was both CEO and Chairman of Ford. Caitriona Balfe (Outlander) is meanwhile playing Mollie Miles, wife of Ken and mother to Peter Miles, who is played here by Noah Jupe (A Quiet Place, Honey Boy). The movie also features Jon Bernthal (The Walking Dead, The Punisher) as Lee Iacocca, a Ford executive who would separately develop the Mustang at the company. Josh Lucas also appears, and Remo Girone (Live by Night) plays Enzo Ferrari, himself.
Ford v Ferrari Release Date
The 20th Century Fox movie starts its engines on Nov. 15.

Ford v Ferrari Story
Matt Damon and Christian Bale star as American car designer Carroll Shelby and daredevil British racing driver Ken Miles, respectively. Together, they make a formidable pairing, hired by the Ford Motor Company to design a state-of-the-art vehicle capable of beating Enzo Ferrari’s cars at the 24 Hours of Le Mans in France in 1966.
On their road to beating the Goliath of the race-car world, the maverick duo are forced to contend with corporate interference, their own personal demons and, by the looks of it, the explosive dangers of track racing in the 1960s.
