Deadpool 2 Concept Art Reveals Fantastic Four Plans
The Fantastic Four were supposed to appear in Deadpool 2. Would they have even survived, though?
Deadpool 2 had its fair share of problems leading up to its realization, and its original director quitting the project was just one of them. Tim Miller left after behind the scenes issues with star Ryan Reynolds came to a head, and Atomic Blonde‘s David Leitch was brought on board as a replacement. What key elements of the film changed in the interim are likely to emerge over a longish period of time, as those involved feel they can speak about such things without getting into too much legal trouble.
Some new concept art for Miller’s version of Deadpool 2 has found its way online in the last few days, however, and we’ve learned that Josh Trank’s rebooted Fantastic Four team may have been lined up for an appearance early on.
The revelation comes courtesy of artist Alexander Lozano, who has now given us a glimpse at how the team might have looked in the Merc with a Mouth’s sequel. Below, you can see Miles Teller as Mr. Fantastic, Kate Mara as The Invisible Woman, Michael B. Jordan as The Human Torch and Jamie Bell as The Thing, who would all presumably have returned to follow up their ill-fated 2015 flick with an appearance in the movie.
It certainly feels like this was supposed to be more than one of the resulting film’s “blink and you’ll miss it” cameos. Could the Fantastic Four have been part of X-Force? Or would they have found another way to show us Marvel’s first family dying hilariously before the action even began? We may never know.
Here’s a look at Lozano’s art for Tim Miller…
