Coraline Director Finally Making Another Stop-Motion Movie
Henry Selick is finally getting a new movie off the ground - this time teaming up with Oscar-winner Jordan Peele...
Now this is great news. Henry Selick, the director of films such as The Nightmare Before Christmas and Coraline, has been struggling for some time to get a new stop motion movie off the ground. In fact, 2009’s Coraline is his last completed film project as director, and in that time projects such as The Shadow King and an adaption of Neil Gaiman’s The Graveyard Book have fallen by the wayside.
Back in 2015, it was revealed that he was developing a stop motion movie called Wendell And Wild, that would feature Jordan Peele and Keegan-Michael Key. It came from an idea Selick had himself, but again, the project seemed to hit the buffers.
However, now we have much better news, as Netflix is set to back the project and move it forward. Peele and Clay McLeod Chapman are penning the screenplay for the movie (via Deadline), while a tie-in children’s book is also planned.
The film will centre on two scheming demon brothers, and hopefully would can begin in earnest quickly. We certainly hope so. Selicks’ work has been away from the screen for way too long.
