Christopher Nolan’s Inception gets its cast
Cillian Murphy, Ellen Page and Marion Cotillard join DiCaprio in the cast of The Dark Knight director's next film...
Christopher Nolan could probably start walking on water at the moment and no one would be much surprised, such is the respect the Batman Begins and The Dark Knight director commands. So, it comes as no surprise that the Brit director is lining up a stellar, all-star cast for his next project, Inception.
Leonardo DiCaprio has already confirmed he’ll play the lead in the film, which Nolan has also scribed. But it looks like Inception is going to be pretty epic in scope, as Nolan-favourite Cillian Murphy (Scarecrow in the Batman saga), Juno‘s Ellen Page and Oscar winner Marion Cotillard (Le Vie En Rose) have all be lined up to take roles.
Talk about surfing the crest of a wave. Page and Murphy have just wrapped Peacock, with Page also starring in Drew Barrymore’s directorial debut, Whip It. While French actress Cotillard will soon be seen in Michael Mann’s prohibition gangster epic Pubic Enemies alongside Johnny Depp and Christian Bale.
While Inception‘s plot is being treated as top secret, the film’s studio, Warner Bros, have released a brief statement, enigmatically describing the film as “a contemporary sci-fi actioner set within the architecture of the mind.” I have no idea what that means, but with a cast like that involved and the svengali genius of Nolan calling the shots, Inception has just rocketed to the top of my anticipation charts.
Production is set to start this summer, with the look of a 2010 release likely. This one’s going to be big, folks, so expect more news on Inception as we get it.
