Avengers: Endgame – Kevin Feige Confirms Mid-Air Snap Victims are OK
When it comes to explaining away one of Avengers: Endgame's biggest logic-stretches, the Marvel chief says Smart Hulk ain't so stupid…
This article contains Avengers: Endgame spoilers.
With Avengers: Endgame – aka the official biggest film of all time – hitting living rooms this week, it seems that Marvel head honcho Kevin Feige is on a tireless one-man mission to repromote the movie. And by that we mean explain away every little potential plot-hole so that we can all get to sleep a little bit easier at night/enjoy the film for what it is – a great piece of blockbuster entertainment and an impressive culmination of 22 movies worth of shared-universe storytelling.
The latest revelation should come as some comfort to any fans worried for those unfortunate Snap victims who happened to be travelling aboard aeroplanes/helicopters/blimps/hot-air balloons at the time of their dusting (during the events of Infinity War‘s finale).
Basically, the question on everyone’s (some people’s) lips was this: if you disappeared mid-air, would you reappear in the exact same place mid-air five years later, when the Hulk undid Thanos’ handiwork (just as people on the ground did)? And if said aeroplane/helicopter/blimp/hot-air balloon was no longer there to catch you, would you plummet to a splattery doom from which there was no coming back?
Dark, eh? Thankfully, according to Feige, Smart Hulk was acutely aware of this potential “raining people” disaster and definitely factored it into his magic wishlist when he slipped on the new Infinity Gauntlet and performed his successful anti-Snap.
Speaking during an exclusive post-screening Empire Q&A last week, Feige reassured everyone that the aerial survivors of ‘The Blip’ were indeed safe and sound. “If people were in an airplane when they were dusted, they didn’t return at 35,000 feet,” he said. “They didn’t fall to their deaths because Smart Hulk is smart, and when he snapped…You can wish for whatever you want and you can wish for everyone to come back safely. Done.”
So there you go, there’s that mystery explained then. Phew. Did you ever really doubt that Mark Ruffalo’s big green mastermind wouldn’t have thought of that among all the Snap-reversing excitement?
