Streets of Rage 4 Trailer Reveals New Character and Multiplayer Action
The latest Streets of Rage 4 trailer introduces Floyd Iraia and shows off the multiplayer options.
A new trailer has arrived for Streets of Rage 4, and it packs in a fair amount of stuff that fans will be intrigued to see: there’s some brand new gameplay footage (which is always nice to behold) and there’s also the reveal of a brand new character (who sounds quite cool, to be honest).
If you’re not already familiar with the Streets of Rage franchise, allow us to fill you in: this side-scrolling beat-em-up series kicked off in 1991 with Streets of Rage on the Sega Genesis (which was known as the Sega Mega Drive in the UK), and sequels followed in 1992 and 1994. All three of those games have been re-released a lot of times in the years since.
Lizardcube, Guard Crush Games, and Dotemu are now teaming up to bring fans a long-awaited fourth installment in the Streets of Rage franchise. And as we learned at Gamescom when we got hands-on with the demo for the game, Streets of Rage 4 features very familiar gameplay (you’re still walking from left to right, picking up pipes, and whacking your way through foes) coupled with newly cartoonish graphics.
Take a look at this, the latest Streets of Rage 4 trailer…
This new trailer for Streets of Rage 4 introduces the character of Floyd Iraia, a “cybernetic brother-in-arms” who has robotic fists – those should come in handy when you’re battling through screen after screen of sinister agents! He’s got something of a Cyborg vibe, DC Comics fans might think.
The other characters that have been confirmed to appear in Streets of Rage 4 are newcomer Cherry Hunter and returning fan favorites Axel Stone, Blaze Fielding, and Adam Hunter. So we know there will be multiple characters. And, as this trailer shows, there will also be ways for multiple players to get involved at the same time.
There will be two different kinds of Streets of Rage 4 multiplayer: two players can play together online, or four players can play together through a local offline co-op. This will be music to the ears of franchise fans, since playing together with your friends has always been a core part of this franchise.
The Streets of Rage 4 release date hasn’t been confirmed yet, but we know the game will arrive this spring on PlayStation 4, Xbox One, Switch, and PC.
