On top of that, while many gamers will want all the bells and whistles that come with some of the pricier products, others are understandably just after something basic at a lower price point.

The new shiny kid on the block, this updated version of the Razer Raiju controller will instantly make you feel like a gaming pro no matter how well you actually play. One of the highlights of the controller is how chunky it feels in your hands, somewhat like the Xbox One controller, and the design is slicker than the previous generation. This is certainly a pricey option when you consider a console costs only slightly more, but it’s an investment worth making if you take your gaming seriously.

2. Sony DualShock 4

As brilliant as some of the controllers on this list are, there will always be a huge swathe of gamers who swear by Sony’s own. The DualShock 4 is still a nifty peripheral and perfect for casual gamers especially. You can play either wireless or wired and charge the controller with a micro-USB connection in between sessions. The share button lets you upload video and images to social media, and it has a built-in speaker and headset jack to enhance your audio experience. It can even be used with your PC or tablet using PlayStation Now.

Considered one of the best PS4 controllers on the market, the Nacon Revolution Pro certainly gets you the most bang for your buck at well under $200.
