My Dad Wrote a Porno Podcast Could Become a TV Show or Film

The podcast creators continue to entertain offers for on-screen adaptation as they set out on their first U.S. tour.

My Dad Wrote A Porno, the British comedy podcast centered around Belinda Blinked, the series of erotica books one of the hosts’ father’s penned, is a huge hit. The podcast, which started in 2015, has over 100 million downloads and has had guests like Elijah Wood, Daisy Ridley, Michael Sheen, Thomas Middleditch, and Mara Wilson come on the show.

The podcast has gone on tours across the UK, New Zealand, Ireland, and Australia, and will be hitting the U.S. starting later this month, but the good news doesn’t stop there. There’s also talk of a potential TV show or film adaptation. According to Deadline, the podcast creators are entertaining offers to turn My Dad Wrote a Porno into a TV show or film.

A number of the podcast’s actorly guests are already vying for roles in the potential TV show or film adaptation. Apparently, both Sheen and Middleditch want to play Dr. Robbins, a creepy Dutch character who first appears in Season 2.

“We’ve had a lot of exciting conversations,” podcast creator and son of Belinda Blinked author “Rocky Flinstone,” Jamie Morton told Deadline. “A lot of people have come to us to say they love the show and we’ve had a lot of interest in lots of different ways. The thing is it could go in so many different ways, it could be a musical, films, TV shows. There’s loads of conversations going on, but we just want to make sure that whatever we do is right by Belinda.”

My Dad Wrote a Porno was created and hosted by Jamie Morton, James Cooper, and Alice Levine. Each episode, the three read a chapter from the Belinda Blinked novels, a series of 50 Shades of Grey-like books written by Morton’s father. The books follow Belinda Blumenthal as she starts her new job in the pots and pans sales industry… and has a lot of sex. The show is currently on its third season.

Morton told Deadline of the adventure:

I still can’t believe in a million years that I’m reading my dad’s porn with my two best friends to people around the world. It’s the most surreal thing. We never really had particularly grand ambitions when we started, we just wanted to make a show to make us laugh and the way it’s grown and people have taken Belinda to their hearts is both terrifying and amazing.

The U.S. live tour of the podcast will hit eight cities (well, seven U.S. cities plus Toronto) and will run from February 22nd to March 7th. The live show includes the reading of a “lost” chapter that is so bad even Rocky didn’t want to include it in his books, audience participation for live re-enactments, and a Powerpoint presentation about the female reproductive system.

Tickets are already available, with one NYC show already sold out.
