The one and only Keanu Reeves has officially been cast to voice the infamous Shadow in the upcoming third movie in the Sonic the Hedgehog film series. Dare we say perfect casting?
“Keanu Reeves is rumored to be joining the cast of Sonic the Hedgehog 3. Sources tell The Hollywood Reporter that the actor will use his voice to bring the character Shadow to life. Created by Jim Carrey’s Dr. Robotnik, Shadow mimics many of Sonic’s features and can also match his speed and skill. The character made his first appearance in 2001’s Sonic Adventure 2, and has appeared in many projects under the franchise since then.”
Hollywood must face up to the way it uses disfigurements as a metaphor for fear.
“David Roche is a motivational speaker, performer and author of the new book Standing at the Back Door of Happiness: And How I Unlocked It. Remember the movie Wonder Woman? I was genuinely enjoying the film until, near the end, the evil scientist appears. How did I know she was an evil scientist? She has a notable facial disfigurement! No dialogue, narrative or explanation was required. There is no greater hackneyed, unimaginative, shallow metaphor in cinema. My lived experience is in direct contrast to Hollywood’s banalities. I am a performer with a facial disfigurement, born with a ‘vascular malformation’ – a growth consisting of my own blood vessels – on the left side of my face and neck. Beginning in infancy, I’ve had numerous surgeries. Radiation therapy caused the lower part of my face to stop growing and left burn scars on my temple and eyelid.”

Ryan Gosling lit up SNL once again this past weekend, this time with a Beavis and Butt-Head sketch that’s already lighting up social media.
“People watch Saturday Night Live to laugh, of course, but there are laughs and then there are sketches that last forever. This past weekend, Ryan Gosling hosted SNL and the episode may have featured one of those all-time sketches. What starts as a discussion of AI then turns into one of the most absurd and random pop culture references imaginable as two audience members who look like the characters from Beavis and Butt-Head derail the whole thing.”
Despite being one of the most heavily maligned shows of the last few years, Mindy Kaling’s Velma series is returning for another round of Scooby Snacks.
“Gas up the Mystery Machine because Velma’s coming back to streaming. Executive-produced by and starring Mindy Kaling, Velma follows the exploits of everybody’s favorite teen forensic scientist as she sets about losing her glasses and unmasking the elderly owners of haunted amusement parks. Following a divisive first season, the show returns for season two this month.”
