Jon Glaser: Cosplay Reporter For A Day

We hit the floor of New York Comic Con with Jon Glaser to inspect and inquire on some radical cosplay gear!

New York Comic Con is absolutely filled with not only people in incredible costumes, but also countless accessories and memorabilia for sale. With so much on display, it’s easy to get overwhelmed and develop con madness, but thankfully we had a veritable gear expert like Jon Glaser to help us get through the experience.

Glaser is uniquely qualified to weigh in on cosplay accoutrement as he’s the creator and star of TruTV’s Jon Glaser Loves Gear. Each episode sees Glaser deep dive into a new gear-filled niche, and cosplay is filled with unknown goodies in that regard. He’s even seen the occasional “Jon” from Delocated cosplayer.

Cosplay and costumes may not be a future topic on Jon Glaser Loves Gear and even though Glaser isn’t a big cosplayer himself, he has inadvertently explored that role through the creation of his character-now-TV show, Neon Joe, Werewolf Hunter. “It was an arbitrary joke that was put together via wardrobe,” Glaser jokes. “And then we created this whole character out of nothing.” Cosplay really isn’t that different! And if he had to cosplay as something? “Tie fighter pilot,” Glaser decides after much consideration.

So while all sorts of other places out there will give you the rundown on NYCC’s best and most notable cosplay, this is where you’re going to get into the nitty gritty of gear with Jon Glaser. Take a gander!

Jon Glaser Loves Gear returns January 2019 on TruTV.
