Game of Thrones: The best merchandise to get you over the final season
Now that we've survived the final battle, here is some of the best Game of Thrones merchandise on the web...
Whether we like it or not, our watch is over. The eighth season of Game of Thrones has now wrapped up and, with it, we’ve reached the end of an era. For a lot of us, the story will never be over (a feeling that’s quite accurate if you consider the fact that George R.R. Martin’s book series is yet to wrap up, and HBO has a number of spin-offs in the works), and there’s never been a more important time to shout about your intense fan love from the rooftops.
And you’re in no way alone. As one of the most popular television shows of all time, Game of Thrones has spawned its fair share of awesome merchandise, and we’ve collected some of the best from around the web for you to peruse.
1. Game of Thrones Board Game
Price: £43 | Buy now from Amazon
The official Game of Thrones board game is a great place to start if you’re looking to expand your love of the books and/or show. The game, now in its second edition, can be played with 3-6 players but, if you find it a little dense, then there are plenty of Thrones versions of loads of popular games like Monopoly, Risk and Cleudo.
2. Johnnie Walker White Walker Limited Edition Scotch Whisky
Price: £33 | Buy now from Amazon
A real deep cut, but one that’d make the perfect gift for a whiskey lover as well as a Game of Thrones fanatic. There are a ton of variations, most of them representing each house, but this White Walker-themed edition is perhaps the most exciting. Flavour-wise, it features notes of caramelised sugar, vanilla, fresh berries and a hint of orchard fruit, and is best enjoyed straight from the freezer.
3. ‘Dinner is Coming’ Chopping Board
Price: £14 | Buy now from Amazon
Add a touch of drama and foreboding to dinnertime with this chopping/serving board. Available in three sizes, the laser-engraved board is made from premium hardwood and would make an amazing gift for the chef in your life whose only love greater than cooking is Game of Thrones. You can pretty much find anything with the show’s iconic phrase emblazoned, but we also love this apron and wooden spoon.
4. Jon Snow Fur Hoodie
Price: $70 (£53) | Buy now from ThinkGeek
Ever wanted to look like Jon Snow? Of course you have, and you can do just that with a fur hoodie styled after the character’s signature cloak. The hoodie has a full zip, side pockets, a ribbed waist, sleeve cuffs and – best of all – the hood has a zip down the middle that allows you to position it as a faux fur collar a la Jon Snow. And, like a lot of the best merchandise, only fellow fans will likely clock that you’re wearing an officially licensed piece.
5. Jon Snow Longclaw
Price: £110 | Buy now from Amazon
If dressing like Jon Snow isn’t enough, then you can also get a replica of his sword for all your cosplaying needs. As the price suggests, this doesn’t look and feel like a toy but is designed as high-quality decor for anyone enamoured with the weaponry part of the swords ‘n’ sorcery genre. As such, it comes with a lovely mount that you can place on the wall, so you can admire your investment.
6. 7-inch Iron Throne Replica
Price: £69 | Buy now from Amazon
Let’s not mess about – if you’re a die-hard fan of Game of Thrones then it’s likely that the thing you want most is your own Iron Throne. Sadly not many of us have the space or the understanding family that would allow us to have a full-size one in our homes, so the next best thing is this officially licensed 7-inch replica. Meticulously detailed and with a satisfying amount of heft, it’s the perfect addition to your collection.
7. The Iron Throne Egg Cup
Price: £10 | Buy now from Geek Core
Treat your breakfast like royalty with this Iron Throne egg cup, which is made out of cute knives and forks instead of the traditional swords. Whoever actually ends up on the throne at the end of the show, you can play pretend every morning and crown your egg triumphant. As the product description points out, there are also lots of opportunities for mediocre punning, whether its ‘Eggard Stark’ or ‘Cersegg Lannister’.
8. All the Funko POPs
Price: £7-£37 | Buy now from Amazon
As you might expect from one of the best-loved franchises of all time, the internet is teeming with Game of Thrones Funko POPs to collect. We particularly love the sets of Daenerys and the Night King riding dragons, but there are also ones for pretty much any individual character you can think of and – for the fan who has everything – POPs of writer George R.R. Martin and creators Benioff and Weiss.
9. Sculpted Dragon Egg Candles
Price: £25 | Buy now from Amazon
Pretend you’re a true Khaleesi with these dragon egg candles, which are so pretty on their own that you might not even want to light them. Unfortunately, unlike these, the candles don’t contain real baby dragons, but they’ll still look amazing on your windowsill or mantelpiece, and make you wish that you had your own dragon to ride into battle. 10. Hodor Door Stop
Price: £6 | Buy now from Amazon
If you want to remind yourself of one of Game of Thrones’ most heartbreaking moments every time you enter a room, then why not get this Hodor doorstop? It’s one of those bits of merch that will elicit a chuckle from guests before they remember that it’s not at all funny. If you want to step it up a gear, then there’s also this Hodor doormat with a similar design.
11. Game of Scones Cookbook
Price: £11 | Buy now from Amazon
Part of a brilliant series of geeky-themed baking books, Game of Scones teaches you how to make all manner of cakes and biscuits that evoke your favourite show. The pun on the cover – the byline of ‘Jammy Lannister’ – is just the tip of the iceberg, and the book and its contents could be the perfect companion to your final season viewing parties. Brienne of Tart, anyone? See also: The Walking Bread and Baking Bad.
12. The Seven Kingdoms Goblet
Price: £40 | Buy now from Amazon
Drink like a king with this rather dramatic-looking hand painted goblet, complete with logo, a map of Westeros and fancy stem. Fill it with red wine and pretend you’re drinking the blood of your sworn enemies, or just use it as a beer glass on a Sunday afternoon while you’re watching the footie. Either way, this will definitely step up your drinking game. You can also get House Stark and Targaryen variations.
