The Star Trek franchise may continue to expand with new characters and legacies-in-the-making, but it hasn’t forgotten where it came from either. Following the success of Star Trek: Picard Season 1, Paramount greenlit two more seasons featuring the beloved Starfleet captain. Here’s everything you need to know about the upcoming Season 2…

Star Trek: Picard Season 2 Release Date

Star Trek: Picard Season 2 is right around the corner, with its premiere episode slated to drop on Paramount+ on Thursday, March 3rd. The season will consist of 10 episodes, dropping weekly, so plan accordingly. Unless you have access to time travel, you can totally disregard this section.

Star Trek: Picard Season 2 Trailer

“Welcome to the road not taken,” an ever-dramatic Q tells Picard in the most recent trailer for the new season. Yes, this means we’re going timey-wimey, with Picard and the crew of the La Sirena heading back in time to Los Angeles, Earth in the year 2024. (Let us know how it’s going, will you?) You can see the entire trailer, featuring our first glimpse at Guinan’s return, below…

The first trailer released to tease Season 2 has a much more uplifting tone, while also teasing the return of the Borg Queen (played here by the wonderful Annie Wersching). Check it out…

Star Trek: Picard Season 2 Cast

The cast list for Star Trek: Picard Season 2 is expansive and includes some familiar faces. Patrick Stewart will of course be back in the title role of Jean-Luc Picard. Also returning to hang out on the La Sirena are Alison Pill as Agnes, Isa Briones as Soji, Harry Treadaway as Narek, Michelle Hurd as Raffi, Santiago Cabrera as Rios, Evan Evagora as Elnor, Jeri Ryan as Seven of Nine. Orla Brady will be back as Picard’s chateau-based confidante Laris, and Brent Spiner is listed as part of the main cast as Altan Inigo Soong.

As previously mentioned, John de Lancie will be returning as Q, Whoopi Goldberg will be reprising her TNG role as Guinan, and Annie Wersching will be taking on the role as the Borg Queen.

Star Trek: Picard Season 2 Story

Star Trek: Picard Season 2 will consist of 10 episodes, and will see the crew of the La Sirena jumping back in time to fix what Q has intentionally f-ed up. As we heard in the Star Trek Day trailer, Q has gone back in time to change the world into, as Picard puts it, “a totalitarian nightmare.” Classic Q. We’re particularly excited to see this time travel plot play out as Terry Matalas, the creator of excellent Syfy time travel series 12 Monkeys, has joined Akiva Goldsman as showrunner for Season 2.
