Just yesterday, we were reporting the news that Rachel McAdams hadn't been approached after all to play The Black Cat in the upcoming Spider-Man 4. McAdams had been widely linked with the role the week before, but confessed that she knew nothing about it.

So could Anne Hathaway - shortly to be seen in Tim Burton's Alice In Wonderland - be next in line? According to Deadline Hollywood, Hathaway has been approached by the film's producers about starring in the movie, and while there's been no role specifically mentioned in relation to the story, it does seem that The Black Cat is once more the likely favourite.

That said, Sam Raimi and his team haven't, at this stage, confirmed that The Black Cat is the villain for the next Spider-Man film, although all points seem to be directed that way at the moment.

Yesterday, incidentally, it was reported that the terrific Julia Stiles had also auditioned for the role.
