MGM confirms that new Robocop movie won’t be arriving in 2010 after all…
Published on Jun 16, 2009
Over at io9, it's being reported that MGM's planned reboot of the Robocop franchise is running a year behind schedule. Originally planned for release next year, the brand new Robocop is still in the development stage, with director Darren Aronofsky and scribbler David Self hard at work on the screenplay.
As it stands, a final script isn't yet in place, and there's been no move yet to discuss any possible casting. Aronofsky is still locked in to helm the picture, though, and MGM is currently touting a release in 2011. It gets no more specific than that at this stage, though.
Is it just us that wonders if the wheels might come off this one, though?

The first film still stands up well why bother remaking it? All satire will be removed from the remake as well so its pointless

But Malky, we'll have a new, supped-up robosuit costume, bigger exploisions, and plenty of campy references back to the original!! I bet we'll even get crazy CG stunts! It'll sure PWN the original!
