Winona Ryder wants Heathers sequel

…and even dead old Christian Slater is up for it.

Everyone wants to be Yoda now. With today's announcement that Michael Douglas will be Shia LaBeouf's 'consigliere' in Wall Street 2 comes the added news that Christian Slater is to return from the dead in Heathers 2.
The original 1988 film was a pyrotechnic and delightfully anarchic look at how school rivalry can get out of hand, a bit like Mean Girls meets Fight Club. Though there's been a fair bit of talk about a sequel in the last 21 years, star Winona Ryder has revealed to Empire that she really wants it to happen.
"Whatever you hear, there is a sequel in the works. I swear to God," says Ryder. "But for some reason the writer Dan Waters and director Michael Lehman don't want to talk about it. I've been wanting to do a sequel forever. There is a story, and Christian [Slater] has agreed to come back as a kind of Obi-Wan character."
Looks like Waters and Lehman are getting a bit of public pressure, then. I love the original film, but arguably the moment has passed...
