With a voice cast as long as your arm and a pedigree to match, Astroboy hits cinemas in October and the first teaser trailer can be seen below.
It’s been out for a month or so now but if you’ve not caught it yet, it’s well worth a look.
Like all great teasers this plants a seed of excitement in your brain, then allows it to burrow its way in before the more expansive follow-up trailer is released. For fans of the wee robotic boy, the shots of him rocketing through the skies before tunnelling into a mountain, eyes bright blue and arms going like the clappers, are sure to raise a smile or two, as is the adoption of the manga-style animation Astroboy is so closely associated with.
Freddie Highmore voices the boy himself, Nic ‘Put the bunny back in the box’ Cage is the scientist behind him, and Matt Lucas will be in there somewhere too.
It may only be a brief look, but it’s still enough to get me excited.
