Yellowstone Season 2 Episode 7 Release Date, Episode Guide, and More

Yellowstone season 2 is adding Dabney Coleman in an important role for the finale.

Yellowstone Season 2 has saddled up for another 10-episode ride on cable’s Paramount Network.

News of the 2019-scheduled sophomore run of Yellowstone became known on July 24, 2018 – just halfway into Season 1’s 10-episode run – and was hardly a surprise. The series received the industry equivalent of a ticker tape parade by the newly-rebranded Paramount Network (formerly Spike TV), heralded as a peak television drama brandishing household-name actor Kevin Costner, serving as the network’s inaugural scripted series offering.

Indeed, the inaugural season banked impressive ratings, with Paramount citing 5.3 million viewers (a number that likely includes metrics across all platforms,) for the show’s June 20 debut, and managed to maintain steady viewership with a cited average of 5.1 million per episode. The numbers make it the most-watched new cable series of 2018.

Yellowstone Season 2 Cast

There’s one final bit of major casting news for Yellowstone season 2 and it comes in advance of the finale. According to Deadline, Towering Inferno actor Dabney Coleman will apear in the season 2 finale as John Dutton’s father via flashback. Coleman is a well-known actor whose careeer spans decades. This won’t be his first brush with television, having played Commodore Louis Kaestner on Boardwalk Empire.

Neal McDonough is bringing his signature calculating countenance to Yellowstone Season 2, reported Deadline. He is set to play – likely in familiar villainous form – a character named Malcolm Beck, who’s described as “a wealthy business mogul who runs an area casino with his brother, Teal. They are power players, down and dirty fighters who know how to work the system to get what they want.”

McDonough has been fielding a series-hopping run as villain Damien Darhk on The CW’s “Arrowverse” shows, most recently on Legends of Tomorrow, having recently fielded TV runs on RogueSuits and, perhaps most memorably, as the cold, calculating, sadomasochistic Robert Quarles on FX’s Justified. He also made his share of movie appearances, notably in 2002’s Minority Report. Plus, Marvel fans know him as Dum-Dum Dugan in Captain America: The First Avenger (a role he reprised in a 2014 episode of Agents of SHIELD,) and Trekkies still know him as the ill-fated Lt. Hawk in 1996’s Star Trek: First Contact. He’s currently fielding a TV run on History’s fact-based UFO series, Project Blue Book, and is set to appear in the upcoming Sonic the Hedgehog live-action movie.

Yellowstone, set in rural Montana near Yellowstone National Park, is a Dallas-like Stetson-strewn family drama and a modern take on old frontier Western stories. The story centers on wealthy cattle ranch-owning patriarch John Dutton (Kevin Costner) and his business-involved offspring, Beth (Kelly Reilly), Jamie (Wes Bentley) and Kayce (Luke Grimes). The drama takes shape through local land issues, with the Duttons frequently butting heads with lawyers, politicians and the local indigenous tribe. Interestingly, the series pilot pulled a fast one on viewers by killing one of the main Dutton siblings, Lee (Dave Annable).

The Yellowstone cast also consists of Cole Hauser, Kelsey Asbille, Brecken Merrill, Jefferson White, Danny Huston and Gil Birmingham.
